BBJ and HIPA awarded expat CEOs

Budapest Business Journal (BBJ) and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) awarded expat CEOs for the fifth time this year at their joint gala evening.
The Budapest Business Journal's "Expat CEO of the Year 2018" Award was given to Taira-Julia Lammi, Country Managing Director of ABB Kft. by the jury of experts, while with HIPA's Special Award Kannan Prabhakar, Managing Director of Apollo Tyres Hungary was awarded for his activities.
The award can be given to the expat CEO who is working and living in Hungary, and who did the most not only for the domestic development but for the international recognition of the company as well with their outstanding professional knowledge and achievements during the year. This year the Country Managing Director of ABB Kft., Taira-Julia Lammi earned the recognition.
"My thank you goes to the jury for this honour, it must have been really hard to make decision as any of the nominees could be standing here today. Also I thank the ABB Team, this is a team prize, without my wonderful colleagues at work I would not be here today"- said Taira-Julia Lammi, Expat CEO of the Year after the award ceremony.
Foreign company executives are important partners of the event's co-organizer, the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA). HIPA's primary tasks include attracting new investors to Hungary, promoting the reinvestment of companies already settled in Hungary as well as integrating domestic companies into the supply chain of multinational actors.
The "Partnership Award" funded and awarded by the organization can be given to the expat CEO who has been enthusiastic in promoting the Hungarian invetment opportunities among foreign investors in the past years. At this year's gala Kannan Prabhakar, Managing Director of Apollo Tyres Hungary earned the recognition.
Róbert Ésik, President of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) highlighted in his speech: Indian investors have a significant contribution to the outstanding Hungarian investment promotion success story of the past period, e.g. projects from this investor community have earned the 'Investor of the Year" award in 2014 and 2015 as well. By sharing his positive experience regarding the Hungarian investment environment with his fellow citizens, Mr. Prabhakar has clearly contributed to attracting several Indian investments to Hungary in the recent years.
At the event Levente Magyar Deputy Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade talked about the importance and the value the expatriots are bringing into Hungary: Without you the state of the economy would not be in the position it is in right now.
